Air Locks

The entrapment of air in a pipe stopping or reducing the flow of water. Air locks are only found in waters systems fed via a cold water storage cistern with little pressure and are the result of bad pipework installations. All pipes fed from storage cisterns must be run truly horizontal or with a slight fall allowing the air to escape from the system when filling.
